Fiesta Ranch Roping
Fiesta Ranch Roping & Stock Horse Competition is four days of horses, roping, competition, good food, family fun, and Western fellowship in Tygh Valley, Oregon.
Held each September at the Wasco County Fairgrounds, Fiesta brings together friends, families, working cowboys, horsemen, and anyone who enjoys the Western way of life.
The weekend includes ranch roping, stock horse competition, kids events, trail riding, Cowboy Church, a gear trade, potluck, and an evening Cowboy Gathering around the campfire with music and poetry. More than a competition, Fiesta is about good horsemanship, sportsmanship, participation, friendship, and celebrating the horse.
Come ride. Come rope. Come participate. Come be part of the Western way of life. Fiesta is open to competitors or anyone who just wants to come camp out with their horses and enjoy the event.

The history of Fiesta
"Fiesta" originally known as the "Whispering Meadows Equestrian Center (WMEC) Fiesta" and later renamed the Live Equestrian Fiesta started in 2009. To our knowledge, Fiesta is the longest-running annual judged-loop ranch roping in the United States. It began when Scott DePaolo and friends gathered their families for some big-loop-style roping and good company. The original rules grew from a score sheet passed along by the late, great Richard Caldwell, who had used it at an event of his own, with influence from other traditional ranch ropings such as the Californios.
Today, Fiesta remains an event for ropers of every level. For many people, it has been their first competitive roping. Experienced team ropers and calf ropers come to try something different, while novice ropers and young kids can get involved and learn alongside seasoned hands.
More than a competition, Fiesta feels like a big family campout built around horses, cattle, good food, campfires, and fellowship.
Who should come to Fiesta? Anyone who shares the values of faith, family, friendship—and a good horse tied onto a waspy steer.
You don't even have to rope. There is lots more to the event like music, poetry, stock horse, and more.
